Obituary
Patricia A. Tokarz, 50, of Hunt Road, Columbia, wife of Walter C. Tokarz, died Monday (Dec. 22, 1997) at the Hartford Hospital. She was born July 9, 1947 in Johnstown, PA, and was a 1965 graduate of Windham High School. She was employed as the Branch Manager of the Taftville branch of the Norwich Savings Society. Pat was a former manager of the Mansfield branch and had been employed by the bank for 18 years. She was the Northeastern Regional Governor of Soroptimist International, a volunteer at the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and a mentor for the Family Preservation and Mentoring Program. Pat was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Services, and the Salvation Army. She had been active at the Windham Hospital as a committee person, was a board member of the Thames Valley Council for Community Action, a former board member of the Windham History and Textile Museum, and a former member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Willimantic Rotary Club. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son and daughter in law Walter R. and Samantha Tokarz of Columbia, a daughter Kathleen Tokarz of Columbia, two sisters Deborah Herdman and Lois Marsh both of Johnstown, PA, two brothers Robert Virgin of Oakdale and James Virgin of Johnstown, PA, her mother in law Katherine Tokarz of Willimantic, several nieces and nephews and two great nephews. The funeral service will be at 10a.m. Saturday at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic with the Rev. Valerie Roberts-Toler officiating. Burial will follow in West St. Cemetery, Columbia. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
