BOMBRIA , GEORGE R. III SARATOGA LAKE — George R. Bombria III, 57, formerly of Cambridge, died suddenly Friday, September 12, 2003 at Saratoga Hospital. He was the beloved companion of Donna Lefco of Saratoga. Born Friday, May 17, 1946 in Willimantic, Conn., he was the oldest child of the late George Russell Bombria II and Vinita Harkins Bombria of Willimantic, Conn. George graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in business. While on a fishing trip on the Battenkill River, George fell in love with the area. He moved as soon as possible and made the Cambridge area home. He married Pat Moses and had two children. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Cambridge. George worked at Eagle Bridge Machine and Tool for many years and most recently worked as the production manager at Hubbardton Forge in Castleton, Vt. The outdoors was George’s natural habitat. He loved fly fishing and bird hunting and was a member of many related organizations. He bred and trained hunting dogs and was the president of the Capital District Birddog Club for many years. Another favorite pastime was following UConn (University of Connecticut) sports. Along with his mother and special friend Donna, George is survived by a son and his fiance, Daniel B. Bombria and Carrie Schlie of Cheektowagh; a daughter, Lindsay H. Bombria of Shushan; the children’s mother and good friend, Pat M. Bombria of Shushan; five siblings, Jean Scavone of Meridan, Conn., James Bombria of Bolton, Conn., Tom Bombria of Oakdale, Conn., Mary Bombria of Stone Mountain, Ga. and David Bombria of Greenland, N.H.; Donna’s children, Melanie Lefco Catron of Forth Worth, Texas, Lisa Lefco Gray of Austin, Texas and Daniel Lefco of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Emma Catron and Tyler Gray; and many nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Georgi Museum in Shushan. Friends and relatives are invited to gather on the banks of George’s beloved Battenkill River and share memories of his life. He is remembered as a great father, a trusting friend, a giving and generous spirit and a lover of the outdoors and the beauty of nature. The family requests memorial donations be made to American Diabetes Association, New York State-Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.
