Obituary

Michael F. Juras, 66, of Columbia, CT passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Willimantic on December 10, 1947 to Frank J. Juras and Mary (Lusko) Juras, he grew up in Willimantic attending local schools. Mike went on to attend the University of Connecticut where he received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Accounting. Mike was an employee of the State of Connecticut working in the Division of Revenue Services for years before his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Willimantic Country Club (now The University Club) for many seasons where he practiced his love for the game of golf. Mike enjoyed good food, good wine, movies and bright sunshine. He is survived by his brother, Peter Juras and his wife Carol of Windsor Locks, his daughter Lisa and son-in-law James P. Girard of Glastonbury and two grandsons Jack and Michael. Mike was predeceased by his beloved wife of 38 years and best friend, Linda (Alapi). They are now reunited in peaceful repose. His family will receive relatives and friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rt. 195), Willimantic, Friday, January 31, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. A private family burial will take place on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the National Kidney Foundation.
