Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Theodore Poulos, 77, of Willimantic, CT, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut with his family by his side. He was born to Theodore and Pauline Poulos on September 20, 1946, along with his fraternal twin brother Christopher. Tom was a graduate of Windham High School Class of 1965, where he played football and baseball. He was also a post grad student at Windham Tech where he became an accomplished carpenter, and while there assisted their fledgling football team as a player- coach. He loved the competitiveness of sports, even taking Karate lessons into his seventies. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era, later returning to Willimantic after his service, where he continued to live in his childhood home throughout the rest of his life. He loved his family, sports, taking culinary classes, and his cats. He was proud of his Greek heritage, and often frequented the local Greek-owned restaurants.

Tom is survived by his brothers Peter Poulos (Lynne) of Aiken, SC, and Christopher Poulos (Marie) of Colchester, CT. He also has many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins including Ted Poulos (Alina) and children Alexander and Gabriella, Michele Poulos (Gregory Donovan), Nick Poulos, Lindsay Poulos, Laura Chiulli (Alfred) and daughters Alexandra and Electra, Leslie Poulos (Bill Stover) and son Luke, Dawn Bonefas and children Cora and Donald, and Jen Raulukaitis (Mike) and children Aiden and Madison. The family also wishes to thank Tom's good friend Sherry Goodrich who provided companionship and assisted Tom for many years.

His family will receive relatives and friends at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 414 Valley St. Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00am with his burial following at the New Willimantic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
