Obituary

Wayne R. Kurcinik, 71, of Willimantic, died peacefully on February 20, 2018 at his home. He was born August 10, 1945 to the late Steven and Lenore A. (Ruma) Kurcinik. Wayne was raised by his loving grandmother Sonia Ruma. He was a graduate of Windham High School, class of 1965. After graduation, Wayne joined the United States Air Force where he was an aircraft mechanic and earned the distinction of Airman of the Quarter. He worked at Stan’s Auto Parts and later retired from Hamilton Standard. Wayne was a member of Willi Mac Softball Association and enjoyed bowling and hunting and was an avid Boston Red Sox and UCONN Husky fan. Wayne is survived by two daughters; Cynthia Cooper of Willimantic and Wendy Kurcinik of Chaplin; four grandchildren, Mariah, Tyrique, Jaden and Sionna; a brother Steven Kurcinik and his wife Elizabeth, two nephews and one niece and a staff of wonderful caregivers. Wayne’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday February 28, 2018 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195), with a memorial service beginning at 11:00am.
