Obituary

William F. Costello Jr., 78, of Naples, Florida and formerly of Willimantic passed away peacefully surrounded by family and prayer on April, 21, 2026. Bill was born in Boston, but was raised in Willimantic. He graduated from Windham High School in 1965 and St. Michael's College in Winooski,Vermont in 1969. He returned to Burlington, Vermont and opened Finbar's Restaurant on the corner of Church and Main.

Bill developed a love of sailing and spent many peaceful weekends on Lake Champlain. Bill moved to Naples, Florida in 1979 with his future wife Marylou.

There he worked in various restaurants and taught school for a short time. Running became his passion and ran in numerous 10k's and half marathons. He also developed a love of cooking. Nothing made him happier then turning out gourmet meals for his family and friends. Weekly golf and basketball games rounded out his free time.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Marylou and by his three sons, Billy, Chris (Daissy), and Matthew, and a grandson, Cooper all of Naples, Florida. Family was always very important to Bill and he has remained close to his brothers, John ( (Liane) of Dania Point, California; Robert (Diane) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Larry (Nancy) of Peachtree City, Georgia. He was predeceased by his sister, Jean, and his parents, Bill and Kay. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Naples, Florida.
